Welcome!

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering.

Welcome to Unforgettable Childhood! Some of you are old friends, some of you are new. Some of you are visiting for the first time from 5 Minutes for Moms‘ Ultimate Blog Party.

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

Please excuse the design mess. I added a little of this and deleted a little of that. My results was design chaos. Cathy from Desperately Seeking Wordpress will be stopping by to fix me soon. :-)

Things are changing here at Unforgettable Childhood. My mind has been working in overdrive to improve this site and offer more ideas to you.

Here is a little sneak peak on what is coming.

Excovering new places.

Next stop. . .Dinsey World!

Planning a Reading Rocks party to kick off a new Category on Unforgettable Childhood. We love books!

Creating an Art Studio to showcase all of our fun projects. We love to find new ways to use our art supplies.

Being outside is good for everyone in this house. We are excited that the snow is gone and the sun has started to shine so we can enjoy The Great Outdoors.

We never go far without our journals. Writing Rules around here!

Some days we are princesses waiting for our prince to come. Other days we are cowgirls in the Wild West. We love to get out the video camera and sing and dance. Join us as we make a stop at the Imagination Station.

We are a household built on Faith. Our Family Room is a place we come together to make extra special memories with God at the center.

As a mom of three young girls this I need a Mom’s Time Out every once in awhile! Most of the time it is coffee with my girlfriends, or a fun new product. But sometimes, this mom packs her bags and spends a little time away.

We love a good party. This year we walked on a runway and had a Disco ’til dawn! Soon we will be sharing our first Mom & Me Tea with Gigi. Stay tuned for the Party Place full of pink boas, petit fours and tiaras.

I don’t have a big kitchen, but the girls love to put on their aprons and help create something Yummy. Kids Cook up some great treats in this kitchen.

We are always on the look out for new board games. Family Game night is important in this house. We have a closet full of Games Galore and we love to share our favorites!

Daddy tries to stay out of the craft room and the kitchen, but he loves to be active with his girls. Family Fitness is another great way to have fun together and focus on our health.

With everything going on around us we still have to focus on what it takes to be good parents. Parenthood is not always fun, but it helps us to be able to create the Unforgettable Childhood for our girls that we desire to accomplish.

And we don’t go far without our camera so we always have a lot of fun photos to share in our Photo Album. (This category was created especially for Grandma and Grandpa)

I hope you take some time to look around and come back to see the exciting changes here at Unforgettable Childhood.

I am excited to join in to the Ultimate Blog Party 2010. They have some great prizes this year. I would love any of the prizes, but some of the stuff I would love to win:

The Goodie Basket for Mom from Healthy Moms (#18), The Preschool Curriculum from the Itty-Bitty Bookworm, or any of the Amazon Gift Cards! What a great party.

Waiting for the Birds

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering.
Using Tags: Birds

We walked to the hardware store to get a new Bird feeder and bird seed yesterday. Last spring one of our favorite activities was backyard birdwatching.

We filled it up and hung it on the tree.

And now we wait. We have bets on how many days it will take the finches to find the feeder. I think it will be full by the end of the day. We are getting all set to start some activities at home all about birds. I will share them with you as we go.

Do you have a bird feeder at your house? What are your favorite birds to watch in your backyard?

Wordful Wednesday – Sledding ’til Sunset

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering, Photo Album.

Sunday was a beautiful day for sledding. We went with friends out to a big hill and the kids (and the dads) had a blast. Everybody got their workout, too. The hill was big and once you got down to the bottom, you had to get back to the top. . .

Taylor took a few tumbles, but she still has a smile on her face.

Nadia didn’t think that getting snow in her face as she zipped down the hill was worth it so she stood at the topped and pushed people down the hill.

SV107395

Madi and her buddy went down and up the hill a thousand times. She even ended up with a bloody nose in one spill, but she wiped it off and went again.

They went down the hill until the sun went down. What a great winter day in South Dakota!

I am joining Seven Clown Circus for Wordful Wednesday. Check out other great photos, here.

Swimsuits & Snow Pants

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering, Family Fitness, Photo Album.

This is the first getaway that we have been on as a family where we packed our swimsuits and our snow pants. To celebrate the New Year we packed up and headed to the Black Hills for a little swimming and skiing.

This was our first family ski trip. Daddy and the older girls took lessons and skied all day. Nadia and I did a little shopping and got in on the end of the day for a few pictures.

Next time Nadia and I will have to try to ski, too.

Maybe this is why we live in South Dakota in the winter. . .

We are going to Walt Disney World

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering, Party Place.
Using Tags: Disney World

For Christmas this year we gave our kids a trip to Disney World. They do have to wait for it though. We are not taking them until school is out for the summer in May.

It was so much fun to see their faces when they opened up their Mickey Ears. They knew right away that we were taking them. I am so excited to start letting them in on the planning.

I have found so many resources online to help with our trip. One of my favorite is Zannaland. She is actually on the Walt Disney World Moms Panel. I know I will get all kinds of super tips from her. It seems like it is a long time off, but according to the ticker we are only 4 months, 3 weeks and 3 days away! I can’t wait!

I love that the hats have their names on the back.

The great part is that my husband and I are just as excited as the girls to go. We have never been to Disney World, either. To make the trip even better we are going to bring along Grandma and Grandpa. (we even tried to get their uncle to come. . .he is not so sure about a trip with three little girls to see Mickey.)

I hope you all had a Wonderful Christmas! ~Amy

Driving to Grandma’s House

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering.
Using Tags: Thanksgiving, Travel

We are lucky to live close enough to both sets of Grandparents, but we are far enough away that when we go it seems like we pack up the house for the weekend.

When our girls were younger we always travelled around nap time. It was better for everyone involved. Now we only have one that sleeps in the car and she tries really hard to stay awake.

I have been busy trying to get everyone packed and ready to go. All three girls packed their own suitcases. (They all have their own because, of course they can’t let their clothes be mixed together??)

I have learned on these little weekend trips that I have to double check the suitcases. One Christmas we got to Grandma’s house and my oldest had repacked her bags. She only had one pair of pants for 5 days! Not good.

Little one and I found a couple of new movies for the drive. I love DVD players in the vehicle. Especially when they have headphones. :-)

SV104642

We also packed a few snacks. We are picking the older girls up from school so they will need a little treat. I am headed to the craft drawers to find a few markers, coloring books, etc. Each of the girls has a clipboard to use in the car to write and draw. That is a great purchase if you spend much time in the car.

The last thing I need to do is go to a few sites to print off some Thanksgiving printables. There are some great Thanksgiving printables at FamilyFun.com.

Hopefully our trip is full of family, food and fun! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
