ExcoveringLast weekend we took our first trip to Papa’s Pumpkin Patch with the girls. Our middle daughter went with a friend so we decided that our other girls needed to experience it as well.

The girls had fun exploring mazes through hay bales.

Even Daddy joined the fun.

Nature & Nails

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering.

We had an awesome Labor Day Weekend filled with making memories.

We spent the majority of the weekend camping near our home. The kids ran wild with their friends and we were able to spend a lot of fun time with our friends.

It was really windy, but the sun was out so the girls insisted that they spend a little time at the river.

Nadia took advantage of the wind and decided to fly her kite.

Yesterday we decided to finish off our weekend with a little shopping trip. It is Taylor’s Ninth Birthday tomorrow so we took her out of town for eating and shopping. At the end of the shopping trip daddy decided that the girls could get their nails done. I have never even had my nails done. . .but he wanted to treat the girls. I wish I would have had my camera to take pictures of the girls. They looked so cute sitting with their nails under the dryers.

Now back to the grind today. What kind of memories will we make this week?

Backyard Campout

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering.

Yesterday as I was cleaning inside of the house my girls put up the tent in the backyard. They kept talking about how they were going to sleep in it last night. I laughed. For one thing it was a school night. Not to mention, it wasn’t exactly hot out last night. So I thought they would just play in there and then we would come back inside to our nice comfy beds.

The girls somehow convinced their dad that it would be fun to sleep outside, even though they had school today. So we all bundled up and headed outside. The girls each told us a story before bed. It was hilarious. I should have had the video camera out.

We actually went to sleep a lot earlier than we usually do. Somehow the girls ended up on the air mattress and Chad and I were on the ground. He lasted outside until about 2:30 am and then he told me he had to go into the house. Nadia lasted until about 4:00am. The older girls had to be woke up to get ready for school.

I guess this was just another one of our adventures. I only had one question for my hubby. Why didn’t we do our backyard campout in the summertime when it was warm out and the girls didn’t have school the next day. . .

AND THE WINNER IS. . .I almost forgot to post the winner of the ECOstore USA Shampoo and Conditioner. The winner is #7 The McCormick’s.
McCormick’s said…
I tried using fancy salon shampoo and conditioner a few weeks ago. Liked the shampoo but my scalp got super itchy and flaky. The conditioner didn’t work at all. Would love to try the eco-friendly stuff since you like it!

I will send you an email and get your address to send off your prize.

Home at Last

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering.

Vacation was wonderful, but it is so good to be home. I am working up a few posts, but for now, I wanted to share a few photos with you.

Exploring Sylvan Lake

South Dakota really is a beautiful state!

Cooking at the Campground. For now, our camper is our summer home. (I keep telling my hubby we are going to retire someday at a cottage by the beach!)

Reptile Gardens – touching the Giant Tortoises.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Race Track + Camping = Headache

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering.

I am in a fog as I write today. I am still on vacation, which is wonderful, but I am a little under the weather.

I can’t remember if I told you that one of the reasons we headed out to the Hills was for my husband’s state softball tournament. So it wasn’t all play, we are cheerleaders for the next two days. (well, hopefully two days, they have to win another game to play tomorrow).

We moved our camper from our beautiful campsite in the Hills to a campsite in town. We thought we were brilliant because the campground is close to the softball complex so we could come back and hang out in between games. . .(we should always wait to claim brilliance until we have all the details).

Last night we decided to get everyone to bed early. We were all tired and the first game was bright and early this morning. Unfortunately, as we were sitting by the campfire we realized there was a lot of revving car engines. Turns out there are car races right next door. The campground told us they should only go until 10:30, (yeah, more like 11:30). I am not sure how we did it, but the girls actually fell asleep to the lull of the motors.

Not me, honestly, it sounded like our camper was preparing for take-off on the runway. I thought that we were going to be flying over the great blue yonder. Oh and did I forget to mention that I have a sinus cold. Yeah, so my head already felt like it was going to explode.

So much for our brilliance. It is nice that I got to run the girls back here to play in between games. . .and spend a little time at the computer. But tonight, I am taking a couple of tylenol pm and I am going to sleep like a baby.

Fun in the SD Sun

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering.

Okay so I am on vacation and I was one day off on What We are Reading Wednesdays over at Simple Kids. Today is the day that my first review was posted. . .

I can’t wait to have time to write about the events of our day today. We are having so much fun. I thought I would share a couple of pictures with you. I probably won’t have much to share the rest of the week. The internet access I have is a little slow and unreliable.

It is raining right now, but we have had beautiful weather so far.

Excovering

Posted by: athue in Categories: Excovering.

“Excovering” – my six year old said this word this weekend. We said what is that? I guess it is Exploring and Discovering. Which is exactly what we have been trying to do with our kids all summer.

Today we are joining Angie over at Seven Clown Circus for Wordful Wednesday. . .because anyone that know me knows that I am Word Girl and Wordless isn’t really possible for me. So join in the fun.

Today we are Excovering Grandpa’s Corn Field. Thought I would share a few pictures.

Nadia even poses in the corn. Whenever I am just about to take a picture, she raises her arm?! That must be her signature model move.

Taylor playing secret agent in the corn.

Madelyn in her signature ponytail and headband.

Daddy looking like he is in heaven in the middle of a corn field.

Oh wait! Is that a picture of me? That can’t be, if you look through our pictures I don’t belong in this family. There is no record of me in photographs. . .
