Little one got left home on Sunday. Her sisters went to a friends house and she was not happy. I told her that we could make something, so she picked Chocolate Chip Cookies.
She said, “I want to pour everything in and I want to start the mixer.”
I took a deep breath, put her apron on her and really let her help in the kitchen.
She loves using the mixer.
And sneaking dough. . .

Last week, Katy and I made playdough when her little sister was taking a nap. We made purple and pink playdough. She had a blast!!

Oh, this is a blog after my own heart!!!!!! I love being a memory maker and a memory keeper. I’m looking forward to reading all the great ideas you’ve shared about making an unforgettable childhood for our children. 
I just captured my 2 year old the other day on film helping me make some brownies. It’s a stretch for me to remember to let them help because sometimes I just want to get things done. But, I never regret letting go of my schedule and other hang-ups to encourage them to love making things with Mommy.

I’m bad. I don’t let my kids help in the kitchen often because I hate the mess. I am getting better though b/c my 6 year old keeps asking me how to cook so I’m starting to teach her. We love to bake cookies though and they LOVE eating the dough. They get that from me.

This made me smile, because I employed this very tactic to convince my 2-year-old to stop crying when her big brother was out playing with his friends the other day! We usually do a bar recipe of some sort, or brownies, but my older two absolutely LOVE cutout sugar cookies when I feel up to the mess. I actually just posted a recipe on my blog for blondies that is terrific to do with little ones!

I love to let my littles help in the kitchen. Of course, it always ensues great messes. But it’s also one of the only times that I feel very victorious as a mamma in that I’m imparting something to my littles that they can use all of their lives.
We love to make cake. Cupcakes to be exact. Any kind. any day. those littles are always wanting to make cake ^_^
